I lied, drawing characters together is still hard, especially when trying to angle them on a computer. As long as the head shape and face comes out right I'll be fine.

To this day I'm perfecting the kiss because I don't like how srmthfg puckers. It looks bad, just like the evil characters' teeth. If I don't like the style I'll do it my way.

Here's the first tip:

Eyes are extremely important to a characters' features and especially pupils (even lack of).

With these monkeys I see a lot of really weird pupils that just don't work. I call this funkeye.

Unless you're purposefully trying to give your character a dorky expression, line up the top or bottom of the pupils to avoid them looking like they just wandered out of the asylum.

Also note: Do NOT stretch the pupil from the base of the eye to the top... it looks ridiculous. Your eyes don't do that. Practice drawing pupils instead of trying to hide or warp them to be easy.

As for drawing characters together, start out with skeleton structures (ie. basic shapes) and slowly advance bringing characters closer together. Even I'm still practicing this. Understanding anatomy does take its toll.
